Steps to Becoming a Medical Assistant Student at UCI 1

Step 1: Research
and Request Information

One of the first steps in continuing your education is deciding what program best fits your lifestyle needs. United Career Institute’s Medical Assisting program is offered both residentially and virtually, allowing students to determine the best route for themselves and their families.

Once deciding to pursue either the online Clinical Medical Assistant or online Medical Assisting diploma program, the admissions process begins by requesting information. By filling out a form including your basic information, such as name, phone number, email address, and program of interest, you are providing our admissions team members with the necessary information to contact you. Our UCI admissions team will contact you for an introductory call to learn more about you and your situation.

Step Two: Complete a Virtual College Visit

After your introductory call with your admissions team member, you will schedule a virtual college visit. During your virtual college visit, you can expect to learn more detailed information about United Career Institute, the medical assisting training program, career services, and the financial aid* process. At the same time, you build a relationship with your admissions team member.

Upon completion of the virtual college visit, the admissions team at UCI will then recommend you to apply for admission to the program should they determine that the program is a good fit for your lifestyle and career goals.

Step Three: Apply To UCI And Complete Enrollment Documents

The next step is to complete a formal application for admittance to the medical assisting training program and pay any applicable fees. Upon receiving your formal application, your admissions team member will send you the necessary enrollment documents, which must be completed before meeting with a financial aid team member. Your enrollment documents will include detailed information about the program you are entering, releases and student obligations, emergency contact information, and other resources. If you have questions while filling out those documents, you can always call, text, or email your admissions team member and ask for assistance.

Step Four: Complete A Financial Aid Consultation

Once the enrollment documents have been signed and completed, you will meet with a financial aid team member to discuss your individual financial situation. They will assist you in filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form and help you determine your eligibility for financial aid*. They will also suggest grants** or loans to help you finance your education.

Step Five: Complete Orientation And Begin Medical Assisting Classes

Once admitted to the Clinical Medical Assistant or Medical Assisting diploma program, students will complete a new student orientation course, where they will learn further information about United Career Institute’s academic policies, processes, and procedures. After completing the orientation course, students will enter classes directly related to their medical assisting training.

Because our program is direct admission, students will begin taking courses where they will learn valuable healthcare skills without taking unnecessary classes. Students can expect to learn various skills and become knowledgeable in many areas of the healthcare process, including checking patient vital signs, phlebotomy, injections, HIPAA, front medical office procedures, and more.

Throughout your first six weeks of classes, your admissions team member will still be there to answer any questions you may have. You will also meet the director of your program and be guided by the academic team. When working with UCI’s career management team, you will have several friendly faces cheering you on during your education and beyond.
