Online Medical Assisting Classes

One of the main benefits of enrolling in this online MA program is the opportunity to complete your medical assisting classes online from the comfort of your own home. Many students have other responsibilities outside of school, such as children, jobs, or other obligations. The convenience of attending classes online provides students who cannot come to campus every day for classes an opportunity to earn their degree.

“Our mission is to empower change by creating opportunity. We believe that offering online classes expands educational and career opportunities for students who need greater flexibility and increases our capacity for program offerings, both of which will better serve the community,” said Chad Callen, CEO of United Career Institute.

As students complete their online medical assisting training, you also prepare for professional healthcare certifications, including National Certified Clinical Medical Assistant*, Certified EKG Technician**, and Certified Phlebotomy Technician**.

Hands-On Skills and Training

While many of the medical assistant courses are completed online, students still have the opportunity to learn and practice hands-on skills through in-person clinical days. During these clinical days, students come to the United Career Institute campus to practice the hands-on skills they will use in their careers as medical assistants.

Some of the valuable skills students practice during campus-based clinical days are taking patient vital signs, assisting with physical exams, performing phlebotomy, preparing medications, and obtaining lab specimens.

In addition to practicing these hands-on skills during clinical days, medical assisting students also complete an externship, which allows them to gain real-world experience. This sets students up for career success by providing the real experience they can add to their resume and the opportunity to network in a professional work environment.

Choose a Pittsburgh Area School

The added convenience of an online degree program is great, and there are many benefits to choosing an online program offered by a school local to the Pittsburgh area. For example, you may need extra help or have questions and want to come to campus to get this additional support.

Additionally, when you choose a school based in the Pittsburgh area, you won’t have to travel far to complete your in-person clinical days.

Another great benefit is that our career services team has existing positive relationships with local healthcare facilities in the Pittsburgh area. When you’re ready to start your career, we work with you one-on-one to help you find the job that’s perfect for you.
