So you’ve made the decision to continue your education by attending UCI Online’s Medical Assisting program. Or perhaps you want a career in a year by attending UCI Online’s Clinical Medical Assistant diploma program. Congratulations on taking this important first step toward a new career as a medical assistant!

Now that you’ve decided on your career path, you’re ready to create a plan to achieve your goal. In today’s healthcare industry, more and more employers recommend having specific education, skills, experience, and certifications^ to qualify for positions in the field.

Medical assistants must be well-trained in patient care and possess the hands-on skills that make them key healthcare team members. UCI Online is here to help guide you along your journey to becoming a medical assistant.

Keep reading to learn more about the process of enrolling in the UCI Online Medical Assisting program!

Step One: Request Information

Once you have made the decision to attend an online medical assisting training program, you will need to decide on an institution that offers training that fits your needs. United Career Institute’s online medical assisting courses allow students to have the added flexibility of virtual learning, with a hands-on component through weekend in-person clinical opportunities.

After you have decided on a school, the next step is to request information. By filling out a simple form that includes your basic information, such as name, phone number, email address, and program of interest, you are providing your admissions team member with the information to contact you. Our UCI Online admissions team member will then contact you to complete an introductory call to learn more about you and your situation.

Step Two: Complete A Virtual College Visit

Upon completing an introductory call with your admissions team member, you will then schedule a virtual college visit. This is a more in-depth conversation where you will learn more detailed information about United Career Institute, the online medical assisting classes, our career services department, the admissions process, and the financial aid* process while developing a relationship with your admissions team member.

At the end of your virtual college visit, your UCI Online admissions team member will recommend that you apply for the Medical Assisting program if it is a good fit for your life and career goals.

Step Three: Apply to UCI Online and Complete Enrollment Documents

After discussing your potential success in the program with your admissions team member, the next step is to complete a formal application for admission to the online Medical Assisting program and pay any applicable fees. Upon receiving your application, your admissions team member will send you the necessary enrollment documents and arrange a meeting with a financial aid team member.

These documents can include detailed information about the program you plan to attend, releases and student obligations, emergency contact information, and other essential resources. Your admissions team member is available to answer any questions you may have while completing these documents.

Step Four: Complete A Financial Aid Consultation

The next step is to set up and complete a financial aid consultation to discuss your financial situation. One of United Career Institute’s financial aid team members will assist you in filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form and help you determine your eligibility for financial aid*. They will also discuss additional options to help you finance your education, including grants/scholarships**, loans, and other payment options. Once you have completed your financial aid appointment, it is important to sign the enrollment documents your admissions team member sent you in order to complete the necessary enrollment paperwork.

Step Five: Complete Orientation and Begin Medical Assisting Classes

Upon acceptance into UCI Online’s Medical Assisting program, students will be required to complete a new student orientation course, where they will learn further information about the schools academic policies, processes, and procedures. Students will be prepared to enter the program and begin taking their online medical assisting courses by completing the new student orientation course.

Your academic support team will automatically sign you up for the exact classes you need, so you won’t waste time taking unnecessary general education courses. For the first six weeks of your program, your admissions team member will be there to answer any questions you may have. You can also expect to become familiar with your program director and academic team.
