Like many, Jon questioned whether he had what it took to pursue higher education. Today, he is proving that with determination, support, and the right educational path, achieving career goals is possible.

As a graduate of the Clinical Medical Assistant program at United Career Institute (UCI), Jon Guerrieri has transformed his passion for helping others into a rewarding career in healthcare. Continue reading this blog to discover how his journey demonstrates that it’s never too late to invest in your education and pursue the future you’ve always envisioned.

Finding the Confidence

Before enrolling at UCI, Jon worked as an aide in a personal care facility. Although he enjoyed working in healthcare and helping patients, he knew he wanted to further his education and expand his opportunities within the medical field.

One thing stood in his way: self-doubt.

“I always thought I didn’t have it in me to go back,” Jon shared when reflecting on his educational journey. Despite those concerns, Jon knew he wanted more for his future. He began exploring his options and discovered that UCI offered the added flexibility he needed to continue working while pursuing his education.

Choosing UCI

For adult learners, balancing careers, family responsibilities, and everyday life, a program that allows some flexibility is essential. Jon found exactly what he was looking for at UCI.

“They offered online learning while still working a full-time job, and life was still happening,” he explained.

The online format allowed Jon to continue earning a living while building new skills and working toward his career goals. One of Jon’s favorite aspects of attending UCI has been the added flexibility the medical assisting training program provides. “The flexibility that they offer with online learning” is what he appreciates most about his experience.

Discovering a Passion for Medical Assisting

Jon chose the Clinical Medical Assistant program because he had always wanted to advance his education within healthcare. “I knew I always wanted to further my education in the medical field,” he said. As he progressed through the program, he discovered a particular interest in pharmacology. “Pharmacology was my favorite class because you get to learn how different medicines interact with each other.”

Beyond the classroom, Jon was especially excited about his externship experience, where he was able to apply what he had learned in a real-world healthcare setting. These experiences helped reinforce his confidence and prepared him for the next stage of his career.

Living His Career Dream

One of the most exciting parts of Jon Guerrieri’s story is that his hard work has already paid off. His dream job after graduation was to work as a Clinical Medical Assistant in a cardiology department. Thanks to the education and preparation he received through UCI, that goal has already become a reality.

“My ideal job would be working as a Clinical Medical Assistant in the cardiology department, and because of UCI, that was able to happen.”

Today, Jon is doing exactly what he loves while making a meaningful impact on patients’ lives. Additionally, Jon shares, “It has prepared me for the future because I am currently working in the cardiology department as a Clinical Medical Assistant doing absolutely what I love to do.”

While Jon has already accomplished an important career milestone, he’s not finished pursuing his goals. Over the next five years, he hopes to continue advancing his education and pursuing a career as a Registered Nurse (RN). He also looks forward to achieving personal goals, including purchasing a home and maintaining a stable career with excellent benefits in healthcare.

Advice for Future UCI Students

When asked whether he would recommend UCI to others, Jon’s answer was immediate: “Most definitely.” He credits the supportive environment and dedicated staff for helping him succeed. “It is a great atmosphere. All the staff there are willing to do whatever they can to help you out.”

For anyone considering taking the first step toward a new career, Jon Guerrieri offers simple but powerful advice: “If your heart is telling you to look into it more, then just do it. You won’t regret it. There will be times when you feel like giving up, but just know the staff is always there to help you out.”

A Future Built on Determination

Jon Guerrieri’s journey is a reminder that success doesn’t require a perfect path; it requires persistence, courage, and the willingness to take that first step toward achieving his goal of becoming a Clinical Medical Assistant in cardiology. Jon’s story showcases what can happen when passion meets opportunity.
