The Importance of Employer Relationships

Employer Relationships United 1

Employer relationships are a crucial part of the real-world experience UCI students receive while enrolled in their program. United Career Institute prides itself on producing highly employable graduates and providing them with many options for employment. The staffing demands at many medical facilities are at an all-time high, and many different kinds of facilities and positions are available in the job market. Building relationships with local employers allows us to create a pipeline of students flowing from graduation to the professional world.

United Career Institute welcomes employers to come in and host lunchtime presentations for the upcoming graduating classes. This is a great opportunity for graduates and local companies looking for staff. United Career Institute has recently hosted Encompass Harmarville, Wexford Health Solutions, Allegheny Health Network, Bethany Hospice, Palliative Care, Harmony Home Care, and Community Life to speak with our upcoming practical nursing graduates.

Several of our students go on to work for these companies after hearing what they offer. The presentation allows employers to advertise why students should work for them. They usually go over open positions, facilities/locations, benefits, workplace culture, company mission, etc. United Career Institute students get a chance to see their options before graduating so that they can find the job that’s right for them.

With so many kinds of facilities, it can be daunting for a new nurse to find the right fit. Choosing from rehabilitation, home care, maternity, hospice, med surge, behavioral health, and more can be nearly impossible without experiencing them all. Hearing companies talk about their services, and the training they offer makes the decision easier for students. Additionally, United Career Institute requires our practical nursing students to get clinical experience in med surge, long-term care, and maternity/pediatrics. These opportunities allow students to make more informed decisions about their future employment and career paths.
