5 Tips To Get The Most From Career Management Services

Career Management Tips!

5 Tips To Get The Most From Career Management ServicesCareer management is a service we provide to our graduates that helps them get hired in jobs related to their field of study. Our programs, both on campus and online, are designed to meet the current needs of employers in your area. Graduates are well-prepared to enter the workforce with practical training and hands-on experience. That’s where career management comes in to help you get hired.

Here are some tips to help you contact career management so they can get you the job you’ve always wanted!

1. Make a Plan

It assists career management if you have a plan of where you want to work when you graduate. Ask yourself: What type of place would you like to work? Do you want to move up at your current location or move on to a potentially better situation? It also helps to know if you plan to move somewhere after you graduate so we can look for jobs in your new area!

2. Start your Resume NOW

Before you Graduate, you will take a class called Career Prep, which will walk you through how to create a great resume, but why wait? Start your resume now, and your career management director can help you improve it when you get ready to graduate! This will also help you start listing your skills while you learn them in your classes!

3. Look at Additional Certifications*

Many employers want to hire our graduates, but they also want to hire people who can do multiple different workplace duties. Additional certifications can help increase the number of skills you put on your resume and increase your chances of being hired. Look up different certifications for you to get in addition to your degree that would be favorable to potential employers! Your teachers and Career Management Director (CMD) can help with pointing you in the right direction.

*Certification is contingent on passing the corresponding certification exam.

4. Make Connections

You never know who you work with or who they know! Whether you are looking to move up or out of a current job, connect with your coworkers and managers. These people can help you and provide a reference for you if requested. You could also find these connections, which could lead you to more opportunities.

You can also utilize your externship experience as a networking opportunity! Many students get hired during or after their externship, so it is important to make a good impression! Make sure to show up and show out! Showcase all the skills you have learned in your classes, as this may help you get a job lined up before you graduate!

5. Reach out to your Career Management Director for advice!

If you are still unsure where to start or need assistance, your Career Management Director (CMD) is here to help! Your CMD is qualified to help you find a job, review your resume, prepare for an interview, and much more! Please reach out to them with any questions, and they can point you in the right direction!
