Taking The TEAS Exam
One of the first steps to enrolling in a Practical Nursing program is to take the Test Of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) exam. The TEAS exam is a standardized test that most institutions require for admittance into nursing programs. The TEAS exam tests for students’ comprehension and readiness to enter the healthcare field. Students are given a series of 170 questions in mathematics, science, English, and language.
Students preparing to take the TEAS exam for entrance to the United Career Institute Practical Nursing program have numerous resources available to help them prepare to take the exam, including a preparation resources guide created by UCI that consists of study materials for each subject. Starting earlier to prepare for the TEAS exam can be beneficial for students, as the creator of the exam, Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) recommends that students study for the exam for at least six weeks before taking it.
United Career Institute’s Practical Nursing Program
Once admitted to UCI’s Practical Nursing program, you can expect to begin your nursing classes immediately. Throughout our program, students will attend classroom instruction at our campus in Irwin, Pennsylvania, then apply skills they have learned in classes during hands-on lab experiences supervised by skilled nursing instructors. Toward the end of their program, our students will gain real-world experience by attending clinical rotations at local area hospitals and medical facilities. Upon graduation, our students will feel confident in their nursing abilities and be prepared to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN)*.
Passing The NCLEX-PN* Exam
United Career Institute’s Practical Nursing program includes important preparation for students who have completed their schooling to sit for the NCLEX-PN* exam. This exam reflects a nurse’s ability to work as a practical nurse in the field competently and safely by evaluating their answers to questions in the following client needs-based sections: Safe and Effective Care Environment, Health Promotion And Maintenance, Psychosocial Integrity, and Physiological Integrity.
Each year, United Career Institute reports licensure rates for programs where certification, licensure, or registration is based upon an industry-recognized exam required to become employed in Pennsylvania. In the most recent report, United Career Institute has a 100% NCLEX-PN Licensure exam pass rate.
Working As A Practical Nurse
