Content Updated 01/17/2024

At United Career Institute, we pride ourselves on providing quality education, training, and preparation to students looking to start new careers. We aim to ensure that each student is empowered with the tools and resources to achieve their dream careers successfully.6 Step Process

Since the school’s establishment in 1987, we have developed an established process that helps guide students through their journey toward a new healthcare career. This process allows us to tailor the student experience while following six steps: Plan, Equip, Learn, Enhance, Apply, and Succeed.

Read on to learn more about each step and how healthcare career training at United Career Institute can help you start your dream career!

Step One: Plan

In step one, students will begin their academic journey by working with a United Career Institute admissions team member, who will guide them throughout the application, admission, and academic process. Each student will create an individualized education plan with their admissions team member to help them achieve their academic and financial goals.

Step Two: Equip

After the initial meeting with an admissions team member, students will be equipped with the resources needed to start their education, including thorough information about the school and program. Then, students will be paired with a financial aid team member who will guide them through the process of creating a financial plan to fund their education. During this meeting, students will learn about the financial aid° process, programs they may qualify for, institutional grants*, and student loans.

Step Three: Learn

After the student has completed the financial aid process, their admissions team member will assist them in completing the enrollment process and setting them up for orientation, where they will learn the fundamental skills and knowledge of their chosen field of study. Students will then put the knowledge and skills they have learned in the classroom into practice during hands-on lab experiences conducted by United Career Institute instructors.

Step Four: Enhance

Students will prepare for professional certification** or licensure^ exams as they progress through their program. These certifications are specific to the industry they have chosen and will improve their marketability to employers upon graduation. Adding professional certifications to your resume shows your knowledge and skill level, thus adding value to you as a potential employee.

Step Five: Apply

Outside of learning in a classroom or lab setting, students also have the opportunity to apply what they have learned to a real-world setting during an externship with a regional healthcare employer. This provides students with valuable industry experience practicing the skills they have learned in their education. Additionally, the externship experience serves as a great networking opportunity, allowing students to build professional relationships with employers and professionals in the area.

Step Six: Succeed

Once students have completed their classes, labs, clinicals, and externships it is time for them to graduate. Students and graduates of United Career Institute have access to our career services department to help them prepare for their new careers. Benefits include resume development, interview preparation, job search assistance, and access to our network of potential employers. In addition, UCI alums have continued support through brush-up courses as their industry evolves. Career Management Services are subject to specific conditions and requirements and continued campus operations. Please see the campus catalog for complete details.
