UCI Hosts Successful Career Fair

At United Career Institute (UCI), preparing students for their future careers goes beyond classroom instruction. It includes providing hands-on training, clinical experience, and meaningful opportunities to connect with potential employers. On September 12, 2025, UCI proudly hosted its Practical Nursing career fair, bringing together future practical nurses and healthcare organizations for an afternoon of networking, professional development, and career exploration.

The event welcomed 18 enthusiastic Practical Nursing students preparing to begin their careers in healthcare. They were joined by 12 respected employers from across the region, each eager to connect with the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Employers in Attendance

The career fair featured a strong lineup of employers representing hospitals, rehabilitation centers, home health providers, and specialty organizations. Employers included:

This diverse group of employers represented the wide range of career paths available to UCI’s Practical Nursing graduates, from acute hospital settings to long-term care, home health, and rehabilitation.

A Bridge Between Students and Employers

The career fair was designed with a clear mission: to connect motivated and skilled Practical Nursing students with organizations in need of compassionate, well-trained professionals. For students, it was a chance to practice their networking skills, learn more about the healthcare industry, and begin building relationships that could lead to future employment.

For employers, the career fair was equally valuable. They had the opportunity to:

  • Meet directly with UCI’s Practical Nursing students and graduates eager to launch their careers.
  • Showcase their organization’s values and culture to potential candidates.
  • Conduct one-on-one conversations and interviews to assess candidate strengths and interests.
  • Identify future employees who align with their mission and goals.

Employers also shared their appreciation for the event. A representative from the VA Pittsburgh Nurse Recruiters stated:

“Thank you for hosting such a nice recruiting event last Friday and for inviting the VA Pittsburgh Nurse Recruiters to participate. We had a delightful experience. It was a pleasure meeting you and your students. We look forward to growing our collaboration with WVJC.”

This kind of feedback highlights how events like the career fair not only help students but also strengthen lasting partnerships between United Career Institute and regional healthcare organizations.

Student Experience

For many students, this was their first opportunity to meet with multiple employers in one setting. They were able to ask questions about job openings, learn more about healthcare specialties, and gain insight into what employers look for in new hires.

“Meeting with so many organizations in one day was a great experience,” one student shared. “It made me realize how many different directions my nursing career could go, and I feel more confident about taking the next step after graduation.”

Students also gained valuable practice in professional communication, an essential skill in healthcare. From introducing themselves to discussing their clinical experience, students left the event better prepared to navigate the hiring process.

Why Career Fairs Matter

Career Fairs are an essential part of United Career Institute’s commitment to student success. They provide more than just networking opportunities; they empower students to envision their future, prepare for the transition from classroom to career, and connect with mentors who can support them along the way.

At the same time, employers benefit from a direct link to dedicated, well-trained nursing professionals who are ready to make a difference in the healthcare industry.

Looking Ahead

The career fair was a resounding success, with students walking away more informed and inspired about their career paths, and employers leaving with fresh connections to future talent. Events like this underscore UCI’s dedication to bridging the gap between education and employment for its students.

We extend our gratitude to the 18 Practical Nursing students who participated and to the 12 employers who took the time to meet with them. Together, we are building the future of healthcare, one connection at a time.
