Students are given 3 hours and 29 minutes (209 minutes) to complete the exam, but each section has designated time limits. The Reading section must be completed within 55 minutes. The Math section must be completed in 57 minutes. The Science section must be completed in 60 minutes. The English section must be completed in 37 minutes.

The Reading section has 45 questions. The Math section has 38 questions. The Science section has 50 questions. The English section has 37 questions.

Although you are not permitted to use a personal calculator, a four-function calculator is built into the exam for you to use during the Math section.

Your educational institution determines how often you can attempt the TEAS. At UCI, we allow up to 3 attempts per year, with no wait periods between attempts.
How to Study for the TEAS Test
Studying can certainly help ease your nerves, but figuring out how to study for the TEAS test and where to start can feel just as intimidating as the exam itself. Try the following to prepare:
Take a Practice TEAS Test
A great place to begin is by taking UCI’s sister school, WVJC’s Practice TEAS Test. Our test allows you to identify your strengths and weaknesses, so you know where to begin studying. It also helps you discover, if you don’t already know, which healthcare career may be best for you to pursue.
Starting with a practice exam gives you a clear picture of where you currently stand. Instead of guessing what to study, you’ll be able to identify your strong areas and pinpoint the areas that may need extra attention. This insight allows you to create a focused and efficient study plan rather than feeling overwhelmed by everything at once.
Discover Study Methods That Suit You
Finding study methods that match your learning style can make studying more productive and less stressful. Whether you prefer flashcards, practice quizzes, study groups, or guided review sessions, there are many ways to prepare that can fit into your routine. Staying consistent, taking breaks when needed, and maintaining a positive attitude are all important parts of the process.
Create a Study Schedule
Creating a study schedule that focuses on areas where you may need extra review is an effective way to build confidence before test day. ATI has created a 6-week study plan to provide a starting point for test-takers, but it is important to adjust it to fit your needs.
